The showgirl workout (for everyone)

1 March 2020

A good morning ritual is vital for me! I don’t have a very structured life due too working late hours and traveling a lot. But I always stick to my morning ritual as it gives me a feeling of being in control of my days. I would definitely recommend everyone to create a morning ritual.

After I wake up in the morning I slip into my vintage robe. Walk to the kitchen. I prepare my matcha latte with coconut milk and peel a grapefruit. I slowly drink my latte and eat my grapefruit while I plan my day in my Greatness Journal. The Greatness Journal is a huge help for me in planning my year, months, weeks and days.

My friend and burlesque colleague Busty La Tish was using this journal when we were on tour together. I was interested because it looked so nice so she showed it to me and explained how she uses it to structure her day. After I came back from touring I ordered my own and I’m already writing in my second one at the moment. It’s a great help to put all my ideas in order, turn them into goals, projects and eventually achievements.

Match latte recipe

  • Thee spoon matcha powder
  • 50 ml water
  • 125 ml (unsweeted) coconut milk
  • honey or other sweetner is optional

Boil the water and let it cool down a bit while you heat up the milk in a pan till it almost boils. Mix the matcha powder and the water in a cup and pour the milk over

Enjoy your latte!

What’s next?

After I finish my latte, grapefruit and writing in my journal I start my meditation. You can do that anywhere where it’s quiet and you won’t be disturbed. I always meditate in the bed sitting upright using a meditation pillow. Most meditation gurus don’t recommend meditating in bed because you associate your bed with sleep; rather they reserve a special room in the house for it. As I live in a small Amsterdam apartment I don’t have the luxury of an extra meditation room, I use my bed.

When I finish my meditation I jump into the shower, get dressed and start my real breakfast, yes I love eating. I have to admit I don’t have a very healthy breakfast habit. But it’s really nice and I already ate a grapefruit so that’s balances it out. See the recipe below. I don’t eat gluten at the moment, recommended by my nutritionist. So gluten free bread is optional, but never fully cut out any food group or product without professional help!

My not so super health breakfast
This is not a super healthy breakfast because I always eat 2 eggs with it. Eggs are high in saturated fats and cholesterol so it’s not the healthiest choose as a daily breakfast. But I really love it and don’t eat a lot of saturated fats the rest of the day.

  • 1 or 2 slices of (gluten free) bread
  • butter or (olive) oil to fry the eggs
  • 2 egg
  • 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise
  • ¼ avocado
  • a few slices of cucumber
  • a pinch of salt

Toast the bread. Heat the pan, put the butter or oil in and fry the eggs.

When the bread is toasted put the mayonnaise and avocado on to of it and mix it together using a fork and add a pinch of salt. Put the cucumber over the avocado toast and place the fried eggs on top.
